China Business Roundtable in Guangzhou
"Thirty years ago, when WEF fist organized conferences in China, international CEOs came to meet Chinese counterparts for sharing experience, now Chinese companies can teach international firms about innovation and competitiveness," said David Aikman, chief representative officer for Greater China, World Economic Forum.

The 2016 World Economic Forum's China Business Roundtable themed with "Digital Transformation of Strategic Industries" is to be held in Guangzhou from November 9 to 10. It will attract more than 150 business executives from emerging industries and high-ranking representatives from multinational companies in China, as well as internationally renowned scholars and officials from national ministries and commissions.
Participants of the meeting will exchange opinions and have in-depth discussions about the vision of China for promoting digital transformation of strategic industries and the paths for reform to further exploring the opportunities as well as challenges through public - private partnerships.
In addition, more than 50 representatives from innovative companies in Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao get the chance to attend the roundtable for enhancing the internationalization of the local companies and raise the international cooperation level.
Reasons for WEF come to Guangzhou
It is the first time that the WEF has come to South China and it is tailored be a major platform for Guangzhou’s socio-economic development and engagement in the global economy.
According to Aikman, Guangzhou is the ideal city to host the China Business Roundtable. CEOs want to have a meeting in South China where has so much business on innovation. Besides, Guangzhou has done a good job in expanding its influence as an international city in past years, people really look to what Guangzhou does as a model of transformation and innovation in China.
"This kind of meeting really can showcase the best of Guangzhou business and how Chinese cities, companies can expand their influence internationally and lead the world forward," he said.
In order to become China's important international exchange center, Guangzhou will seize the opportunity of this business roundtable to create a better business environment and build a high-level open economic system, said Zhu Xiaoyi, deputy director general of Guangzhou Foreign Affairs Office.
