Guangzhou is the highest urban human development Chinese city- about Guangzhou
The United Nations released its 2016 Sustainable Cities Report for China on December 1, and Guangzhou won the highest urban human development ranking among 35 large and medium-sized Chinese cities.
Guangzhou, as a city that has an advanced economy, dense population and huge commercial shipping activity, offers many factors that demonstrate its position as an ideal place for business and living.
Giant companies settling in Guangzhou
Many giant companies have established headquarters or industrial parks in Guangzhou, such as the Chinese innovation Center of Cisco, the biological park of the General Electric Company and China Cosco Shipping Corporation.
Also, 88 Fortune 500 companies have established 720 projects in Guangzhou, with a total investment of over 50 billion US dollars.
Joining hands with the Guangzhou government, Cisco is going to build a smart city, which is a commercial complex that combines industry, business, residences, research and education. When asked why Cisco chose Guangzhou as its headquarter location, Owen Chan, president and CEO of Cisco in the Greater China region, said that Guangzhou, as a major national central city, international business center and integrated transportation hub, has a huge advantage over other cities in research, technology, innovation, service, talent, market, logistics and transportation.

The growth rate ranks first nationwide, surpassing that of Shanghai, Beijing, and Shenzhen, according to the Guangzhou Financial, a platform to promote the construction of the Guangzhou Regional Financial Center.

Guangzhou is number one in urban circulation competitiveness, according to a report on urban circulation competitiveness for 2015-2016. During the annual November 11 shopping spree last year, express delivery volume in Guangzhou ranked first nationwide.
Enterprises listed on New Third Board
Guangzhou ranks first in several categories involving the New Third Board: number of new enterprises listed on the board, number of enterprises on the board, growth rate of enterprises on the board and net asset value of enterprises on the board.
New Third Board is seen as an easy financing channel with low costs, simple listing procedures and a short application period for start-up firms unqualified to be listed on major stock exchanges.
